The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is now inviting submissions to its eight 2021 competitions. In addition to the five traditional competitions for international, German and North Rhine-Westphalian short films as well as children's and youth films and German music videos, submissions are now also possible for three new competitions: the International Online Competition, the German Online Competition and the MuVi International Award. Separate prizes will be awarded in each competition, worth a total of around 50,000 euros.
The submission deadlines
The deadline for the online competitions is 3 January 2021 : International and German Online Competition
The deadline for the on-site competitions is 1 February 2021 : International and German Competition, NRW Competition and Children’s and Youth Film Competition
The deadline for both MuVi competitions is 25 February 2021
The competitions have different requirements regarding the premiere status of the entries. The detailed entry conditions and regulations as well as the entry forms are available online here.
In all competitions, Oberhausen is looking for experimentation, innovative film languages, unusual content and formats. The filmmakers of the selected competition entries will be invited to Oberhausen.
From 1 to 4 May 2021, the 67th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen will present the online competitions on the Internet, and from 5 to 10 May 2021, the festival will take place on site, in accordance with the then current Corona restrictions.
