    Présentation de l'événement

The Hollywood International Talent Festival [HITFest] announced today that its inaugural edition will be held from October 25-30, 2020 across Hollywood, aiming to unite filmmakers from all over the world to celebrate international filmmaking in the birthplace of cinema. Headed by CEO Marco Gomez and under the Directorship of Holger Carlsson and Kate Maberly, HITFest will be an inclusive, brave and carefully curated cinematic experience.

HITFest’s ambitious mandate is to provide international voices of every creed, color and gender with a stage in front of industry leaders. The Festival will welcome filmmakers, industry professionals, press and public to celebrate cinema over the course of its 6 days with a vibrant programme of screenings, industry panels and events on offer.

Seeking to give international filmmakers both new and rediscovered a stage to showcase their stories, the Festival will be hosted by Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, with special screenings taking place at a number of other iconic Hollywood locations. The Festival will also exhibit four categories of competition: Drama, Documentary, Action and Short Films, with all competition entrants screened in front of juries made up of industry leaders and talent.

Marco Gomez, CEO, brings over 20 years of experience in theatrical and film development. His most recent productions include An Act of God, Pretty Woman and Tina Turner the Musical. Program Director, Holger Carlsson is a highly experienced global producer of film festivals and cultural events, previously developing, programming and producing events such as CMJ International Film Festival in New York, Peace & Love Film Festival in Sweden and Asia Europe Film Festival in China. Creative Director, Kate Maberly has worked in film for more than 2 decades, beginning first as an actress, starring in films such as The Secret Garden and Finding Neverland. Since moving to Hollywood in 2010, Maberly has worked her way round many facets of the industry, now producing, writing and directing a slate of projects through her company Hetherwood Productions.

The HITFest team said: “Cultural awareness rising from voices with different backgrounds, genres and unique experiences continue to enrich new films and we are determined to do everything we can to support and encourage more voices of every type and from all corners of the world. World audiences crave for more and we will do our part to provide it.”

With this remit in mind, HITFest has also announced its first partnership with Pavillon Afriques, a new platform aimed at providing African and Diasporic film professionals with unprecedented access to the global movie industry and its resources. Offering a remarkable insight into the potential for growth across the continent by outlining the diversity and plurality of African contents, and within the diaspora, it creates unique opportunities for movie trade and promotion. HITFest and Pavillon Afriques will work closely together to provide Africans, Afro-descendants and African Americans with another launchpad into the international market and Hollywood’s increasingly global film industry, also screening titles and inviting talent from the region to attend the Festival as part of a dedicated program.

Hollywood is legendary across the world and HITFest marks a hugely exciting new opportunity for African film professionals to share their unique narratives with a new audience in Los Angeles. The African continent has a huge untapped potential in true talent and storytellers of yet unknown stories, and we will endeavor to showcase some of the best through this partnership.” Karine Barclais, Pavillon Afriques Founder.
