BFF prefers paperless entries submitted via Withoutabox.com or FilmFreeway.com. Both platforms provide cost-saving, online entry to major film festivals throughout the U.S. with one master entry form, allowing you and us to enter your film more quickly and with greater accuracy. This method is free and easy.
For the June 2017 edition, the submission deadlines are:
- Earlybird: November 30th, 2016
- Regular: February 15, 2017
- Late: February 29, 2017
- Extended: March 7, 2017
Postmarked by = Submission packages can be mailed until the day of the deadline.
The next Brooklyn Film Festival will run for 10 days from June 2 trough June 11, 2017.
Filmmakers selected for the festival will be notified via email by May 12. Not selected films will be notified via WITHOUTABOX or FilmFreeway when the full lineup is complete and confirmed (around May 18th).

Through the resources of industry-related sponsors, the festival awards the winners with a total of approximately US $60,000 in prizes, film services, and cash.
For the 2016 edition the festival’s film lineup included over 100 films.
The projects selected for the Festival will be projected in HDCam, Blu-Ray, Digi-Beta, BetaSP. We accept both NTSC and PAL.
Narrative Features must be no less than 60 minutes, Narrative Short films no longer than 60 minutes. Documentary Features must be no less than 50 minutes, Documentary Shorts no longer than 50 minutes. Animation and Experimental categories have no time restrictions.
Entries cannot have a theatrical run (commercial release) or be broadcast (TV) anywhere in the US before the last day of the festival. Previous screenings at other film festivals, as well as private, industry, and press screenings are OK. Although the "New York Premiere" status is not mandatory to be selected by the festival, it is required to enter BFF Competition.
