Wind Hellas to go multi-screen 22/02/17
Greek operator Wind Hellas plans to launch a broadband television service by the end of this year.
The telco has selected Zappware’s NeXX 4.0 video platform to help develop the personalised multi-screen service. The managed platform includes video head-end infrastructure, cloud-based backend, and the front-end client software for Android set-top-boxes, smartphones, tablets and web browsers.
According to Zappware, features will include linear and catch-up TV, network recording and a VoD catalogue.
Wind is the last of the major broadband providers in Greece to introduce its own TV service.

New Greek pay-TV platform edges closer

Greece’s Wind Hellas has signed an agreement with Forthnet that provides it with wholesale access to Nova sports channels.
As a result, the company’s soon-to-be-launched TV platform will stream content from the channels.
Commenting on the development, Nassos Zarkalis, chairman [&] CEO of
Wind Hellas, said: “We are committed to launch a TV experience that
will stand out for its technology and premium content as well.
“Our cooperation with Zappware ensures the first part and today we
are excited to announce an agreement that will bring lauded content to
