Founded in 2009 by the famous Russian producer Timur Weinstein, WeiT
Media is now one of the fastest-developing production companies in the
country.
In March 2010, WeiT Media strategically partnered with Endemol - a global leader in entertainment programming, with Endemol becoming a major shareholder of WeiT Media.
In autumn of 2010, WeiT Media gained the status of being the first
ever Russian production company to produce projects for Central and
Eastern Europe markets. The company launched an adapted version of Wipe Out Show (Wipe Out Cup) for five channels simultaneously: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and Belarus.
On the January 17th, 2011 the company signed a long-term agreement with “Channel Seven”
in Kazakhstan, the largest contract in the CIS between a broadcaster
and a production company. This agreement made WeiT Media a priority
partner of “Channel Seven” in production, distribution and adaptation of
its TV projects. The total viewers of the shows produced by WeiT Media
and Endemol for “Channel Seven” in 2011, was about 25%.
By the beginning of 2015, WeiT Media has manufactured over 1650
premier hours of content and about 100 projects in various genres: TV
series, TV shows, television, documentary and animated movies.
According to the TNS company, a WeiT Media show Odin v odin, which is a local Russian version of the famous Your Face Sounds Familiar, recieved
the highest ratings amongst TV programs in 2013, and was also selected
as the best project in this genre from the last five years.
The third season of the show Odin v Odin, started on “Russia 1” channel on February 8th,
2014, received successful ratings again. Viewers of this TV show were
impressed by the extremely talented participants and by the creativity
and great taste of the show’s producers, directors, costume designers
and makeup artists.
In the middle of December, 2014 the two leaders of the world
television industry – Endemol and Shine Group announced the
establishment of a new company, thus creating a global entertainment
group with a rich portfolio of famous international hits, including Masterchef,
American Idol, Big Brother, Broadchurch, The Money Drop, Peaky
Blinders, Grantchester, Deal or No Deal, Wipeout, The Biggest Loser,
Black Mirror, Mr. Bean, So You Think You Can Dance, One Born Every
Minute, The Fall, Man vs. Food and many more.
WeiT Media became the exclusive owner of the vast library of
international hits belonging to one of the largest television producers –
the Shine Group companies.
Another WeiT Media success was brought about by the premiere of the TV series Rodina, which is based on the sucessful Israeli series called Prisoners of war (Hatufim), launched on the 16th of March, 2015.
The premiere of Rodina was rated higher than any previously
aired series on the channel “Russia 1”, beating premieres on “Channel 1”
and “TNT”. The average market share of this series exceeded the
broadcaster’s slot average for Adults 18+ by 27%. This is the best
result amongst main Russian public TV channels, such as “Channel One
Russia”, “NTV”, “TNT” and “CTC” during the period of 2013-2015.
Whereas starting from December 01, 2015 Timur Weinstein has been
appointed as the general producer of «NTV» TV channel. Yulia Sumacheva
has been appointed as a CEO and General Producer of WeiT Media.
