Kuwait, 21 September, 2004 - Subscription video-on-demand services are arriving in the Middle East as LuxSat ME begins rolling out its interactive service into 17 territories including Iraq, Libya and Saudi Arabia. Being the first Video-on-Demand Interactive service provider in the Middle East region, it has officially launched its operations in Kuwait through its mother company, Kuwait Cablevision.
Supplying video on demand is becoming one of the fastest growing entertainment markets. Customers are demanding a wider range of programs, greater flexibility and real interactivity. Despite the arrival of digital networks by cable, satellite, DSL and soon digital terrestrial television, the digital television market has yet to succeed in satisfying viewers' expectations.
Addressing the Entertainment and Video On Demand market via cable and satellite, LuxSAT services give instant access to movies, TV programs and Internet as well as video games and music tracks matching viewers own choices. The system allows subscribers to stock up to 150 hours of programming in the LuxStation, downloaded according to pre-selected profiles, with full CD and DVD functionality. Unlike digital channel packages, LuxSAT provides subscribers with a list of block buster movies or television programs that can be seen at any time. They can, therefore, choose from a selection of as many as 50 current movies renewed every month.
"It was essential that LuxSat Kuwait provide Video On Demand services in cooperation with LuxSat Middle East and LuxSat International to ensure the acquisition of the best programs through agreements with Universal and Fox Studios, among others." Said Mr. Khalid Al-Muqaisib, General Manager/LuxSAT Kuwait.
Now available in Kuwait, the LuxSAT display can be seen in various shopping malls where the staff gives regular demonstrations of the diversity of functions offered from the LuxSTATION all in one entertainment box. The LuxSTATION terminal has a sleek design and is also easy to install, making it a desirable and easy to use all-inone home media center to sit in the family living room. It connects a standard satellite TV dish (NileSAT) to a regular TV set through a "Plug & Play " connection. As a result, the consumer does not need to be a technical expert to set it up.
"The Kuwait LuxSat service is unique in the timing factor of its interactive system, which provides the user for the very first time with entertainment and the ability to control it through seven services offered on the same device," continued Khalid Al- Muqaisib, GM of LuxSAT Kuwait. "All of these services are provided by a highly qualified professional team working around the clock to answer any customers' requests."
Today's savy consumers want more control over their programming, the innovative LuxSAT system is offering more flexibility over the content being watched - LuxSAT is the future and present of quality home entertainment.
