Collaborating with internationally acclaimed directors Hiroshi Teshigahara (Woman in the dunes), Akira Kurosawa (Ran, Dodeskaden), Nagisa Oshima (Empire of Passion), Masahiro Shinoda (Double Suicide) and Masaki Kobayashi (Kwaidan), Takemitsu has scored more than ninety films, crating music that distinguishes him as one of the greatest film composers of the late Twentieth Century. Rare interviews of JapanUs greatest directors are interweaved with extensive excerpts from their films and footage of the composer at work to create an engaging exploration of this complex musician and his art.
