27th São Paulo International Short Film Festival - Curta Kinoforum
Organization: Founded and directed by Zita Carvalhosa, the Festival is organized by Associação Cultural Kinoforum.
The 27h Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival will take place in the city of São Paulo, from August 24th to September 2nd., 2016.
The Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival aims to promote a greater exchange between Latin American and International production. Being cultural and non competitive in nature, the Festival intends to present films that may contribute to the development of the short film concerning its aesthetics, specific format and way of production.
International and Latin American Programs:
Films submitted to the International and Latin-American Programs and the Parallel Section can take part on the following sections: International Showcase, Latin-American Showcase, Kids and Teens Showcase and Special Programs. Taken into consideration the particularities of each film, a same short can be a part of more than one Festival´ sections. It´s the Festival organization's prerogative to program a selected short in one or more of its programs upon consultation/authorization of the film director ou producer.
1. Films of all genres completed after January 1st 2015, never before submitted to the Festival, with a maximum running time of 25 minutes (credits included).
2. Unconcluded films will not be accepted, as well as publicity and/or institutional pieces.
3. If the dialogue language is not Portuguese, English or Spanish the film must be subtitled into one of these languages for submission.
March 31st, 2016 for films completed in 2015
April 30th, 2016 for films completed in 2016
1. Entries are available at Shortfilmdepot (www.shortfilmdepot.com). After registering your film on the platform, submit it to the 27th Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival.
2. At the registration stage, a screener of the film can be uploaded according to Shortfilmdepot instructions and specifications.
3. For the selection process, the Festival will accept the following as submission copies:
3.1. Uploaded file from Shortfilmdepot. With this option, it is not necessary to send any further material to the Festival office. Shortfilmdepot will require the purchase of stamps in order to submit the file. The Festival organization highlights this is exclusively a Shortfilmdepot procedure and that no revenue is shared with Associação Cultural Kinoforum.
3.2. DVD. This option is restricted to the Parallel Sections and only if duly and previously authorized by the Festival's direction. The signed entry form must be sent along with the DVD.
4. Aside from the regular selection process, the Festival may invite films to be presented.

The Festival will not cover shipping costs or taxes regarding submission material. All expenses related to dispatch of submission materials are in charge of the person who submits the film, the sender.
Selection procedures and shipping instructions:
A commission assigned by the Festival organization will select the films. Entrants will be notified of the selection results, shipping instructions and standards for exhibition by June 30th, 2016.
a) 35mm prints:
35mm prints shall arrive at the Festival office by August 14th, 2016. The delivery address is the same mentioned on the submission topic in these Rules & Regulations.
b) Digital copies:
Digital screening copies shall be provided to the Festival organizers in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) and/or Quicktime (.mov) H.264 files until July 31st, 2016. The delivery address is the same mentioned on the submission topic in these Rules & Regulations.
Note: Since DCP projection equipment is not yet available in all our screening rooms, it is expressly required that all copies sent in this format be accompanied by an additional Quicktime (.mov) H.264 file for screening.
The prints and videos selected shall be sent to the Festival office in their original format as informed on the entry form. The Festival organizers suggest sending via FedEx or through the Embassy/Consulate or other official representation of the concerned country. All packages must be labeled "ONLY FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES/ NO COMMERCIAL VALUE". The dispatches must be accompanied by a Proforma Invoice amounting to a maximum of US$ 5.00 (five US dollars). No higher amounts will be accepted by the Festival organization and any and all costs arising from wrong declaration will be charged to sender's account. Any and all expenses related to dispatch of the screening prints and videos are in charge of the person who submits the film, the sender.
Insurance and return of screening copies:

Insurance and return of screening copies:
The insurance of the film print/DCP comes into effect at the moment the film arrives at the Festival office, and remains effective until the film is reshipped. Any damage to the film copy must be formally reported to the insurance company hired by the Festival organization before September 24th, 2015.
The costs of returning the films and videos screened during the event will be on the Festival´s organization responsibility. The films will be returned within two weeks after the Festival, to the address expressly informed in the entry form unless other agreement has been formally made before the beginning of the Festival (August 24th, 2016).
All the material sent for selection shall remain with the Festival, as its collection, and can be used by the event strictly for cultural purposes with no commercial intent..
A Festival Tour may be organized in the two weeks following the Festival and only formally pre-authorized films will be screened in this program.
Partner companies and awards:
Although the Festival has a non competitive profile, the audience is asked to vote and a list of the 10 (ten) audience favorites will be announced during the closing ceremony. The event is also open to partnerships with different short film promoters and companies, which may result in other possible awards to be announced during the closing ceremony.
Still images and excerpts of no more than 3 minutes from the selected films may be used by the Festival strictly for the purpose of promoting the event and its programs in any means of communication.
We remind you that by submitting your short film you take on the legal responsibility for the information provided, as well as images, the soundtrack or any other content in this work and, also, automatically declare to authorize its presentation in our Festival. Participation in the Festival implies recognition without reservation of these regulations and entry form.
